Welcome to the Double Dare Ranch. Denny and I have been involved with raising, learning and loving llamas since 1992. We moved from the city of San Antonio to Spring Branch, a small community 25 miles north of San Antonio, in 1991. We were attending an art show where a gentleman had several llamas on display. It was love at first sight, and I immediately said that is the animal that I wanted to raise. My family teased me for a year asking when I was going to get my llamas. In January of 1992 we began visiting other llama ranches and attending shows in the area to learn more about these wonderful creatures. Then one day we purchased three females, and since they are so addictive, before long we had 48. We have enjoyed our years with llamas and have attended many shows where our animals have done very well in the show ring, and some of our fleeces have won Best of Show in fleece competitions. Our initial goal was to breed well conformed, well mannered llamas, and we have succeeded. In the last few years we have increased our interest in fiber and have added fine fiber to our well conformed animals. As we get older, it is getting more difficult for us to keep the high standards of a well kept ranch with as many animals as we have. We will always have llamas, but we have decided that it is in our best interest, and the interest of the animals, to find other homes for some of them. We will keep our older llamas because I don't think it would be fair to make them adjust to a new home at their ages. And I will keep some of my favorites because I couldn't bear to part with them. So far we have reduced our number to 21 llamas, but we do have some wonderful males that we want to place in new homes for very low prices. We would love to have you visit and meet us and our animals.
